The Speedway Australia Kids in Pits Program gives young people the opportunity to experience the excitement, atmosphere and community of speedway from behind the scenes. Designed with families in mind, the program helps children connect with the sport they love while learning about the people, vehicles and teamwork that make race day possible.
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is at the heart of the program. Kids in Pits is only available at approved venues that have demonstrated compliance with Speedway Australia’s safety, operational and child safeguarding requirements.
Every approved venue is expected to provide a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for participating families.
Key Kids in Pits Principles
- Children must be supervised and within 3m of a parent, guardian or responsible adult at all times.
- Approved venues must comply with Speedway Australia’s Child and Young Person Safeguarding requirements.
- Access is limited to approved areas, with children kept clear of restricted and operational zones.
- Appropriate safety requirements, including enclosed footwear and venue directions, must be followed at all times.
- Participating venues must maintain the standards required to keep their Kids in Pits approval.
The Kids in Pits Program reflects Speedway Australia’s commitment to growing the sport in a safe, inclusive and family-friendly way. By combining exciting behind-the-scenes access with strong safety and safeguarding measures, the program creates memorable experiences for young people while giving parents confidence that their children are participating in a well-supervised and carefully managed environment.
